Breast Lift Surgery in Michigan

If you're like most women, you may feel that gravity seems to be working against you. Due to the effects of aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or significant weight loss, your breasts may lose volume and sag. A breast lift, also called mastopexy, can help to reshape and elevate your existing breast tissue. The goal of the procedure is to give the breasts a youthful, perkier appearance. In Jackson, Michigan and Ann Arbor, women are considering breast lift procedures to restore their youthful chest contours.

There are several benefits for Ann Arbor and Jackson, Michigan women wanting a breast lift. This procedure can:

  • Elevate sagging breasts
  • Raise and reduce the size of the nipples/areolas
  • Tighten breasts that have lost volume
  • Make asymmetrical breasts symmetrical

Candidates for a breast lift procedure have good skin elasticity. Women who benefit most from a breast lift have realistic expectations and goals about the procedure. Women who are planning on becoming pregnant or losing a significant amount of weight should hold off on the procedure until a later point in time, due to the changes that can occur to the breasts.

General Procedure

For many of our breast lift patients in Michigan, Dr. Malhotra creates an incision around the nipple, and sometimes from the nipple to the breast fold as well. This is often called a "lollipop" incision. He typically does not need to use an incision under the breast fold and can achieve satisfying results with the vertical breast lift technique alone.

A breast lift can be combined with a breast augmentation to create fuller looking breasts. In this case we use a silicone implant placed over or under the muscle, which lifts the breasts considerably.

Recovery Process

Time off from work varies from 5 to 9 days depending on the extent of the procedure. Once the bandages are removed, the patient will need to wear a specialized surgical bra for several weeks.

Dr. Malhotra is board certified in otolaryngology and plastic surgery, and performs surgical as well as non-surgical treatments. He is committed to seeing you for who you are and what you could be.
